Sardi Design is an internationally recognized creative studio and consultancy specializing in the design of immersive environments, unique place-based experiences and venues. Sardi Design integrates lighting, media, video, sound, landscaping, scenographics and architecture to create programmable experiences and one-of-a-kind places that provide lasting value and distinctiveness.

Sardi Design was formed by Marcela Sardi to push the limits of traditional design to integrate the disciplines of color, lighting, media, scenographics, and sound with architecture and landscape architecture. Applying experience in environmental and product design, fabrication and execution, Sardi Design is renowned for both its creativity and pragmatism.

• Luminous networks: research on sensor (“mote”) based intelligent networks for illumination, data and energy monitoring networks at urban scale.
• Sensate Surfaces/Data Skins/Portals: research with TC Chan Center and Barco Corporation on sensate surfaces at several scales (portals to architectural facades)
• Public Place and Mediated interfaces: research on influence of various forms of network-based media on public place and social engagement
• Content machines: research into open system, episodic and wiki-based content generation for media surfaces.

Marcela Sardi is a designer and producer of environmental multi-media systems and immersive, experiential settings. Sardi specializes in creating immersive media experiences and environments integrating: media, interactive systems, architectural lighting, environmental effects, sound systems, digital projection, embedded LED’s, fountains and water fx, color washes and patterning, environmental art and events programming.

Sardi’s current focus is on the creation of interfaces between public places and network based media including: tele presence via media portals; interactive creativity and game play; effectuated environments via climatic effects or actor driven interaction; and artistic interfaces via various forms of media interfaces including architectural facades and atmospheres.
